À côté is a photographic approach of the body in an « almost here » way. The Body, omnipresent in my work, tends to be a reflexion about its presence by its absence. A true contradiction is created, an in-between. The Body is so present that it ends up removing itself from its environment. It is almost too much, here without being here. Our environment, however familiar, becomes unknown, so inscribed are we in this environment. The notion of the familiar domestic space, « the uncanny », is also present within this work.
These bodies fragmented, deindividualized, are inscribed into the aseptic interior decor. The artificial side, the manner in which the bodies are poised, along with the decor, tends to absurd reality and in that way delves deeper into the photographic paintings.
